A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

Summary:

Authen::SASL could be made to crash or run programs if it received
specially crafted network traffic.

Software Description:
- libauthen-sasl-perl: Perl library for performing SASL authentication

Details:

It was discovered that Authen::SASL, a Perl authentication library, did
not properly validate login attempts. An attacker could possibly use
this issue to gain unauthorized access.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
