DESCRIPTION:
A security issue and a vulnerability have been discovered in MyBB,
which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose certain
sensitive information and conduct SQL injection attacks.

1) The application incorrectly handles malformed SQL queries. This
can be exploited to disclose certain sensitive information via SQL
error messages by performing a "standard" search.

2) Input passed via the "mybb[forumread]" cookie parameter to
showthread.php (when the "action" parameter is set to "newpost") is
not properly sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be
exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.6.2 and reported in
version 1.4.15. Prior versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.6.3 or 1.4.16.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
1) Reported by the vendor.
2) The vendor credits thebod.
