DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered two vulnerabilities in Sunway
pNetPower, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service) and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) An error in AngelServer.exe when processing a certain packet type
(0x06) can be exploited to cause a crash or system reboot via a
specially crafted packet sent to TCP port 8800.
2) A signedness error in AngelServer.exe when processing a certain
packet type (0x08) can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer
overflow via a specially crafted packet sent to TCP port 8800.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows execution of
arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 6.0 (AngelServer.exe
version 6.0.11.4). Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted hosts only.
