DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been discovered in Nagios XI, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The security issue is caused due to the
"/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/reset_config_perms" setuid binary
incorrectly running the "chmod" command, which can be exploited to
gain escalated privileges e.g. by setting the PATH environment
variable to a directory containing a malicious binary and running the
program.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2011R1.2. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted users only.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
RootBSD
