DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in HP Easy Printer Care Software,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user'
system.

The vulnerability is caused due an input validation error in the
"SaveXML()" method of the XMLSimpleAccessor class (HPTicketMgr.dll).
This can be exploited to create arbitrary files using directory
traversal sequences by e.g. tricking a user into visiting a specially
crafted website.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is reported in version 2.5 and prior bundling
HPTicketMgr.dll.

SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Andrea Micalizzi aka rgod via ZDI.
