DESCRIPTION:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in XnView, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

1) A signedness error in the FlashPix plugin (Xfpx.dll) when
validating buffer sizes to process image's content can be exploited
to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted FPX
file.

2) A boundary error when parsing a directory name while browsing
folders can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow when
a user e.g. browses a folder from an extracted archive file.

3) An error when processing image data within Personal Computer
eXchange (PCX) files can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer
overflow via a specially crafted file.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities allows execution of
arbitrary code, but requires tricking a user into opening a malicious
file.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.98.5. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.98.8.
