DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in Network Block Device
(nbd), which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service).

1) An error within the "serveloop()" function in ndb-server.c can be
exploited to cause a NULL pointer dereference by sending certain
negotiation packets to a vulnerable server.

2) An error within the "negotiate()" function in nbd-server.c when
processing negotiation packets with an overly large "namelen" value
can be exploited to terminate the server.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.9.21a. Other versions
may also be affected.

Note: Vulnerability #1 does not affect versions prior to 2.9.21.

SOLUTION:
Vulnerability #1 is fixed in the GIT repository. Use a firewall to
restrict access to trusted hosts only.
