DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in bitweaver, which can be
exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and
script insertion attacks.
1) Input passed via the "author_name" to articles/edit.php is not
properly sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be
exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be
executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site
when the malicious article is being viewed.
2) Input passed via the "liberty_textarea_height" and
"liberty_textarea_width" parameters to kernel/admin/index.php (when
"page" is set to "liberty") is not properly sanitised in
liberty/admin/admin_liberty_inc.php before being displayed to the
user. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code,
which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an
affected site.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.8.1. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
