A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Summary:

GNU Bison could be made to run programs as your login if it processed a
specially crafted grammar file.

Software Description:
- bison: YACC-compatible parser generator

Details:

It was discovered that GNU Bison incorrectly handled grammar-defined
configuration variables when generating HTML reports. An attacker could
possibly use this issue to execute arbitrary code.

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
bison 2:3.8.2+dfsg-1ubuntu0.26.04.1

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
bison 2:3.8.2+dfsg-1ubuntu0.24.04.1

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
bison 2:3.8.2+dfsg-1ubuntu0.22.04.1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
