Worm:Win32/Ainslot.P copies itself to \sys32\systemupdate.exe. The malware changes the following registry entries so that it runs each time you start your PC:

Sets value: "Userinit"
With data: "c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,c:\windows\system32\sys32\systemupdate.exe"
In subkey: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon The malware uses code injection to make it harder to detect and remove. It can inject code into running processes, including the following:

  • notepad.exe

Worm:Win32/Ainslot.P might try to disable antivirus notifications from the Windows Security Center by modifying the following registry entry:

Sets value: "AntiVirusDisableNotify"
With data: "1"
In subkey: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center Contacts remote host

The malware might contact a remote host at dofusaccounts12.no-ip.biz using port 1604. Commonly, malware does this to:

  • Download and run files, including updates or other malware
  • Receive instructions from a remote hacker
